In the fall and winter, the South Atlantic Umpires Association offers weekly training opportunities designed to help umpires continue developing their skills during the offseason. These sessions focus on rule interpretation, mechanics, and game management, providing consistent instruction and feedback from experienced collegiate and professional umpires. Myrtle Beach
On-Field Training
Classroom Training
Beginning Thursday, October 23, 2025, on-field training sessions will be held Thursday mornings at 10:00 a.m. at The Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach. These sessions focus on refining on-field mechanics, positioning, and game management, providing umpires with valuable hands-on instruction and feedback to enhance their performance and confidence on the field.
Classroom training sessions will take place Thursday evenings at 5:30 p.m. at Lakeside Baptist Church in North Myrtle Beach. These sessions will focus on rulebook study, covering both NFHS and NCAA rule sets, as well as video review and discussion. The goal is to deepen understanding of the rules, strengthen game management skills, and prepare umpires for success at all levels of competition.
